Kyara Holder is a creative and versatile Graphic Designer with
a strong presence in both New York and Seoul. I specialize in creating cross-cultural visual aesthetics that capture and grow within diverse audiences.
LUMERES
Korean Beauty Brand
Partnered with Korean makeup brand LUMERES, a Black-owned beauty label redefining inclusivity from the heart of Seoul. I led the visual direction for their foundation cushion launch, blending modern aesthetics and Korean/American authenticity to highlight the brand’s mission— celebrating every shade with luminous confidence.
EDITORIALS
Noona Noodles
A small business run by a mother and daughter located in the heart of Koreatown. Out of all the food court vendors, their bowls of noodles along with service brought nothing but smiles. Their story reached New York Eater and New York Nico— and in celebration of the article, I wanted to highlight how bright the menu and workers are aside from the beaming stovetop flames.
The Disturbing Truth About Hair Relaxers
This piece was created for a New York Times article examining the dangers of hair relaxers within the Black community. Drawing from my own childhood experiences with these products, I approached the layout as a visual echo of the boxes they come in—where warnings are hidden behind sleek branding and promises of beauty. By mimicking the familiar design language of chemical hair kits, I wanted the reader to feel the tension between nostalgia and harm, familiarity and danger. The result is a layout that invites introspection as much as it informs.
COCHON Menu
To introduce the Cochon dining experience to New York City, I curated a Southwestern-inspired menu that complements its bold Cajun offerings. This concept blends the rich, old-fashioned flavors of the South with the untamed spirit of the Old Wild West — creating a memorable journey through design and cuisine.
DANCE CELEBRATION Poster
ALBUM Rebrand
Growing up, we’ve heard of the successful virtual band the '“Gorillaz”. As the band’s aesthetic shifted, I’ve took on a fun and rich illustrative take on the members that compliments their new sound as well as the personality behind the talents. I introduce the “Song Machine”- where synth takes over and their traditional guitar instrumentals take a rest.
BOOK COVER Rebrand
To all the stories I grew to love, I rebranded with a mysterious personality. Something the readers can’t take their eyes off and get their minds racing once they grab a hold of the books.
Experiments
I’m always working on something on the side.
As a side project, I co-founded Do Not Disturb Dance, a four-time award-winning competitive dance group. We've grown from local mall competitions to performing in parades in the heart of Times Square. I love building a brand that champions creativity, confidence, and individuality on and off stage.
DO NOT DISTURB Dance
Throughout this journey with Do Not Disturb Dance, I’ve designed and rebranded all logos, manage the YouTube thumbnails, Instagram posts and now advertisement banners for the new collaboration opportunities we’re receiving.
